The Hotel has been inaugurated by Mr. Leon Herrera y Esteban, General Manager of Touristic Companies & Activities and later on Minister of Information & Tourism, the Lord Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the General Press Manager of the Government the 17th December 1966.
The inauguration was attended by many national and local authorities. The Hotel Costa Canaria was the 2nd Hotel which inaugurated in the South of the Island. In 1991 the hotel was closed for 6 month in order to do a complete refurbishing including a the redisigning of the bedrooms, extention of the main restaurant as well as the Snack-Bar by the Pool and the pool and sunbed aerea. The jakuzzi was added to the main pool as well. The hotel has been reopened the 1st November 1991.
In 1996 the Management of the hotel started a new plan of actualization and mondernization based on a Quality System for all working-proceedures including a roboter-system to control all the installations. After a few years of preparation the hotel has been certificated in 1999 in order to the international regulation UNE-EN-ISO 9002:1994.

On the 30th March, 2008 the hotel closed for a period of 3 months for new reformation work creating itself more intimate and cosy in the hall, bedrooms, main dining room terrace and swimming pool. Incorporated in the new installations is the exclusive Thai Zen Space, with turkish bath, massages, relaxing zone., etc. A new gymnasium with the ultimate in cardio-vascular aparatus. An Internet cafe and wireless system in the Reception area and lounges. The hotel re-inaugaurated on the 29th June with the new concept of New Hotel “Adults only” reserved for the minimum age of 14.
